Republican Senator, Chuck Grassley, has been named one of 2019’s Champions of Retirement Security by the Insured Retirement Institute (IRI). Grassley and Oregon Senator, Ron Wyden, the ranking Democrat on the Senate Finance Committee, were presented the award Wednesday for their leadership and determination in advancing legislation addressing the importance of Americans saving for retirement. “For those who are able to save, it can be daunting to make sure that sufficient funds are set aside to live in retirement as well as make sure they last throughout retirement,” says Grassley. Grassley has supported multiple IRI legislative efforts, including the Retirement Enhancement and Savings Act (RESA) and Setting Every Community Up for Retirement Enhancement (SECURE) Act, which both aim to make preparing for retirement simpler and easier. Grassley thanked the IRI for the honor and pledged to use his position as Chairman of the Senate Finance Committee to continue to develop ideas to help Americans save for retirement.
