SARH Provides More Than $14.5 Million In Uncompensated or Free And Reduced Services

The Iowa Hospital Association’s (IHA) annual statewide report reveals more than $14.5 million in uncompensated care and healthcare services given to area residents by St. Anthony Regional Hospital. The benefits to Carroll and west central Iowa are based on 2018 figures that included over $9.3 million in uncompensated care and more than $5.7 million in free or discounted care. “The report released by IHA demonstrates the social and economic importance St. Anthony and other hospitals hold in today’s health care environment,” says St. Anthony President and CEO, Ed Smith. “Every year, we go above and beyond the essential needs of our patients and contribute to the community in a number of different ways. We are not only a major employer here in the region, we also provide a wide array of health-related services that benefit the community.” Smith adds that stepping in and fulfilling resident’s needs is one way they strive to live up to their mission of improving the overall health of the people they serve. St. Anthony employs more than 745 individuals on a full- or part-time basis and has been rated one of the top 100 rural and community hospitals in 2019.
