Sac City Man Arrested For Alleged Burglaries At Local Restaurant

A Sac City man has been arrested for his alleged involvement in two separate burglaries. The Sac City Police Department reports 25-year-old Casey Alan Herrig was taken into custody for thefts from the Sac County Cattle Company on two different dates in October. A combined loss to the restaurant of $1,800 in cash was reported. According to records from the Iowa District Court for Sac County, Herrig has been charged with two counts of third-degree burglary, class D felonies, for incidents on Oct. 11 and Oct. 16, second-degree theft, also a class D felony, and operating a vehicle without the owner’s consent, an aggravated misdemeanor. He has been booked into the Sac County jail and held on a $10,000 bond. If convicted on these charges, Herrig could face five years in prison and up to $7,500 for each of the class D felonies and up to two years and $6,250 in fines for the aggravated misdemeanor. Herrig also has a trial date of Dec. 10 for an Aug. 10 arrest and charge of first-offense possession of a controlled substance, methamphetamine.
