Perry Woman Charged With Felony OWI And Child Endangerment Following Traffic Stop In Jefferson Sunday

A Perry woman was arrested Sunday afternoon by the Jefferson Police Department for allegedly driving drunk with children in her vehicle. At approximately 3:45 p.m., officers received a report of an intoxicated female leaving the Sparky’s One Stop in the 600 block of U.S. Highway 30. Law enforcement located the suspect vehicle a short time later on Elm Street and performed a traffic stop. Thirty-one-year-old Ashley Nicole Paulsen was identified as the driver, and authorities learned she did not possess a valid driver’s license. While speaking with Paulsen, the officer noticed multiple signs of intoxication and witnessed three children inside the car. She was taken into custody and transported to the Greene County Law Enforcement Center, where she was charged with third-offense operating while intoxicated, a class D felony, three counts of child endangerment, aggravated misdemeanors, and driving while suspended and failure to provide proof of financial liability, simple misdemeanors. Paulsen was released on her own recognizance after appearing before a magistrate. If found guilty of the charges, she faces a maximum penalty of 11 years in prison and more than $26,000 in fines.
