One Airlifted And Two Others Treated At SARH For Injuries Sustained In Monday Accident Near Glidden

Three Carroll women were injured and one was airlifted to Iowa Methodist Hospital in Des Moines following a single-vehicle accident Monday. The Iowa State Patrol is investigating the incident in the 28000 block of 235th Street, southwest of Glidden. The initial report states that 29-year-old Elise Soyer was the driver of a 2011 John Deere XUV (crossover utility vehicle) that for unknown reasons entered the north ditch and struck a utility pole. Two of the three occupants, Soyer and 23-year-old Brooklyn Schamens, were ejected. They were both transported to St. Anthony Regional Hospital for treatment of injuries. The third, 58-year-old Carla Bernholtz, was partially ejected and was airlifted out for treatment of serious injuries. Authorities report that alcohol is believed to be a contributing factor in the accident. The Carroll County Sheriff’s Office, Glidden and Ralston First Responders, Carroll County Emergency Medical Services and the Unity Point Helicopter assisted at the scene.
