October Unemployment Rates For The Region Relatively Unchanged From A Year Ago

A report released this week by the Labor Market Information Division of Iowa Workforce Development (IWD) shows unemployment rates for October in the region remained well below state and national levels. Carroll, Greene and Sac Counties were unchanged from a year ago and led the area at 1.5 percent. Calhoun County came in at 1.8 percent unemployment, followed closely by Guthrie and Audubon Counties at 1.9 percent. Crawford County recorded the highest rate for October 2019 with 2.3 percent. Levels for the region remained relatively stable compared to last year. Calhoun was the only county to see unemployment drop and only by 0.1 percent, while Audubon County saw the largest increase of just 0.3 percent. Iowa’s unemployment rate for October 2019 was 2.6 percent, tied for fourth lowest in the nation. U.S. unemployment was 3.6 percent.
