Newest Carroll PD Officer Says Close Ties Resulted In Selection Of This Community For His Family

One of the Carroll Police Department’s newest patrol officers says that the higher cost of raising a family in larger Iowa communities was a major deciding factor for moving to Carroll. Blake Fiferlick is originally from the eastern side of the state, but his wife, Stephanie (Pudenz) Fiferlick, grew up in the Carroll area. The couple has two children, one and two years old, and he says his current training schedule is actually perfect for being able to spend more time with his family.

A career in law enforcement has been in Fiferlick’s sights for quite some time now.

Fiferlick completed 16 weeks of instruction at the Iowa Law Enforcement Academy in Johnston this spring, and then participated in a real-life scenario right after getting back to Carroll and onto the streets. He says the active shooter exercise at Carroll High School was a critical piece of training and a real eye opener for him.

The military training, Fiferlick adds, definitely helped with knowing how to quickly and efficiently clear rooms in those types of situations. He says being a member of a closely-knit team is one of the many benefits he is finding with his new role.

In his spare time, Fiferlick says he enjoys being outdoors, adding that one of the most attractive things about Carroll and the surrounding area for him are all the outdoor recreational opportunities available.
