New U.S. Marshal Confirmed For Northern District of Iowa

A native Iowan was confirmed Thursday to serve as the U.S. Marshal for the Northern District of the state. The nomination of Douglas J. Strike by President Donald Trump was made based on the joint recommendation of Iowa senators, Chuck Grassley and Joni Ernst. Ernst thanked her colleagues for the confirmation and she joined Grassley in congratulating Strike on his appointment. “Mr. Strike served as a law enforcement officer in Iowa for over 30 years, equipping him with the knowledge and skills required to successfully carry out this position,” Grassley says. From 2001 to 2006, Strike served as Iowa Falls Chief of Police. He was a deputy with the Chickasaw County Sheriff’s Office from 1977 to 2001, with 20 years of that serving as Chief Deputy. He was also the Chief of Police of the Nashua department from 1974 to 1977. During his career, Strike has been President of the Iowa Sheriff’s and Deputies Association and a board member of the Iowa Chiefs of Police and Peace Officers Association. The U.S. Marshal for the Northern District of Iowa serves several local counties, including Carroll, Calhoun, Crawford and Sac.
