Many Events Scheduled For Memorial Day Weekend In Lake View

Lake View and Black Hawk Lake will be filled with a variety of activities this weekend as the community celebrates the unofficial start of summer and honors our fallen heroes on Memorial Day. The Lake View Library Book Sale, which is going on right now, will come to a close at 3 p.m. on Saturday afternoon. Patrons can stock up on books for readers of all ages and interests. The city-wide garage sales began today (Friday) and lasts through Monday. A link to a map of all the locations can be found included with this story on our website. The Lake View Farmers’ Market opens for the season on Saturday morning. Venders of fresh produce, baked goods, handmade items and more will be on hand from 8 a.m. until noon at the Market Square on Main Street. An hour after the Farmers’ Market begins, the Garden Club will open their plant sale. Also on Saturday morning is the Historical Society and Log Cabin Restoration Pancake Breakfast fundraiser.  From 8 a.m. until noon, attendees can stop at the American Legion Hall for a meal costing only $6, with all money raised going to support the Historical Society. The Lake View Historical Museum opens for the season Saturday afternoon from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. and will remain open during those hours each Saturday through Sept. 1. Memorial Day Services are scheduled to begin at 10 a.m. Monday morning at the Veterans Memorial in Speaker Park. The public is invited and encouraged to attend.
