UPDATED: Man Arrested On Outstanding Warrant Found To Be Hiding Controlled Substances

Editor’s Note: This story has been updated with new information presented by the Jefferson Police Department. These changes include more details on the arrest and location of alleged illegal substances and a report of Spaulding’s residence as Breda, not Ellsworth as was presented in the sheriff’s report.

A Greene County deputy assisted officers with the Jefferson Police Department in a traffic stop on Highway 30 near Sparky’s on Saturday afternoon. A call came in to the communications center at approximately 2:47 p.m. of a careless driver on Highway 30, heading west toward Jefferson. An officer locked the vehicle in at 60 miles per hour in a 55 mile-per-hour zone and performed a traffic stop. It was then discovered the driver, 51-year-old Dale Spaulding of Breda, was wanted on a warrant out of Hamilton County for second-offense domestic abuse assault. Spaulding was arrested on the warrant and transported to the Greene County Law Enforcement Center. After arrival, a jailer witnessed Spaulding attempting to flush a smoking device down a toilet. The item was retrieved for testing and Spaulding was subsequently charged with two counts of possession of a controlled substance in a correctional facility.
