Local Senior Receives An Assist From Iowa Student Loan

A Coon Rapids-Bayard senior is one of 10 awarded $1,000 for college expenses through Iowa Student Loan. Trenton Golay’s name was drawn after he and his family completed a free online tool used to estimate the total cost of a four-year undergraduate degree after completing the College Funding Forecaster. The free online tool uses information from students’ freshman year financial award packets, as well as outside scholarships and grants and family savings and earnings, to project estimated costs, funding gaps and potential student loan debt over four years. “It’s important that families understand, and plan for, the total cost of college, not just the first year,” says Steve McCullough, Iowa Student Loan President and CEO. “This tool helps families lay out the four-year plan and see where the funding gaps are so they can adequately prepare. It’s just one component, but a vital piece, to a complete plan for any student’s educational path.” The College Funding Forecaster is available online at www.IowaStudentLoan.org/Forecaster.
