Local And State Authorities Investigate Sexual Abuse Claims, Cherokee Man Arrested

After an investigation into a Dec. 24, 2018 report of the sexual assault of a minor, Storm Lake, Buena Vista County and state authorities conducted an investigation, resulting in the arrest of a Cherokee man. The Storm Lake Police Department says that on Thursday evening, Jan. 3, 29-year-old Antonio Guerra Pascual was taken into custody and charged with two counts of lascivious acts and third-degree sexual abuse, all class C felonies, second-degree sexual abuse, a class B felony, two counts of indecent contact with a minor and one count of first-degree harassment, all aggravated misdemeanors. The investigation, which included the Sexual Assault Response Team (SART), the Sioux City-based Mercy Child Advocacy Center, Buena Vista County Attorney’s Office and the Iowa Department of Human Services, found that Pascual allegedly repeatedly sexually abused and threatened to kill a 12-year-old female at a Storm Lake residence throughout 2018. He was booked in to the Buena Vista County jail on a $61,000 bond.
