Officials in Carroll are inviting landlords who own rental units within city limits and the residents of those properties to join them at an open house Wednesday to discuss a proposed rental housing inspection ordinance. An extensive code pertaining to rental properties does not exist at this time, and the new ordinance would lay the groundwork for inspections that focus primarily on safety concerns, such as sanitation, electrical systems, windows, etc. City Manager, Mike Pogge-Weaver has said the code is not meant to address things like paint colors, carpeting and other similar items. The open house runs from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. on Wednesday, June 26 at the Carroll Fire Station on Bella Vista Drive. No formal presentations are planned, as it will be a come-and-go event.
