Lake View Moves Forward With Two Economic Development Projects And Lays Groundwork For Future Ones

The Lake View City Council is continuing its push to support economic development with the approval of new projects. According to Administrator, Scott Peterson, officials discussed three pending proposals at a meeting earlier this week and voted to move forward with at least two of them. He says the first is funding for the renovation of a building near downtown that will soon become a bakery.

Work on the future home of Dorothy Jane’s Bakery, which is owned by Billy and Emily Bogue, is expected to wrap up within the next few months. The other project approved addresses an ever-present economic hurdle in rural Iowa: housing.

He notes the city will provide up to $8,000 to assist in the bins’ demolition, and the funding will be awarded once the project has been completed. According to Peterson, it is always exciting to see new projects like these come before the council. He says the council wants to continually encourage new proposals, and they have started work on a development policy to achieve this.

Peterson adds they are also still working on the details of an agreement for a 26-unit housing development off of Black Hawk Lake’s eastern shore. For more information on the economic incentives being offered in Lake View, contact city hall at 712-657-2634.
