Lake View City Council Moves Forward With Downtown Sign Initiative

Businesses in downtown Lake View will be getting a new look after the city council approved a new initiative for pedestrian traffic. In 2018, the Housing and Economic Development Committee conducted a downtown needs assessment, identified a lack of signage as a key concern for the district. Administrator, Scott Peterson, says the committee developed a potential solution to place blade signs on businesses who were interested in one.

At only $80 per sign, the council voted unanimously to financially participate in the project by purchasing up to 45 units. Their next step will be to contact businesses in town and determine how many will need to be ordered. According to Peterson, the only difference between signs will be the text that appears on them.

He adds city officials are in the process of reaching out to business owners to determine their interest. Alternatively, they can contact Peterson directly at city hall. The signs are expected to be installed sometime next spring before the start of the tourism season.
