Lake City officials are moving forward with plans to complete substantial work on a well-traveled road leading out of the northeastern corner of town. The road in question is North Hancock Street, and Administrator, Eric Wood, says it has been on the city council’s radar for years.
According to Wood, the city is planning on turning the road over to the county, who will then be responsible for future improvements and maintenance. Before they can do this, he says they will need to consult with nearby landowners.
Wood does not foresee any issues having these easements approved. Once they have been signed, he says they will transfer ownership of North Hancock Street to the county.
He expects construction to begin early next year, with work finishing sometime in the spring of 2020.
