Lake City-Based Youth Ministry Sets Up Collections In Carroll To Benefit Flood Victims In Mills County

A Lake City-based religious non-profit is reaching out to local residents to help them assist individuals in Mills County impacted by the recent flooding. Rediscover Ministries was founded in 2017 by Dausin Olberding, and their mission has always been to serve and bring people closer to Christ. He says helping those in need matches the organization’s goals.

The most requested items for the victims are cleaning supplies, personal hygiene products and monetary donations. A trailer has been set up at Computer Concepts of Iowa for people to drop off donations on Friday and Saturday from 12 p.m. to 3 p.m. Donations can also be dropped off at Central Church of Carroll on Sunday from 8 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. and from 6 p.m. to 10 p.m. Storage is in limited supply in Mills County, and Olberding is asking those wishing to donate sort the items by type.

Olberding adds the damage caused by the floods is more than just physical. He says once they drop off the collected supplies, they will tend to the victims’ emotional and spiritual needs.

The trailer will depart Carroll for Mills County at noon on Monday, and Olberding invites anybody wanted to come along with them. His contact information is included with this story on our website. Many drives benefitting flood victims are going on in the area, and a list of those can be found at www.carrollbroadcasting.com
