Kuemper Spring Play, “The King And I,” Opens Wednesday

This coming Wednesday will be opening night for the Kuemper Catholic School System’s spring production, “The King and I.” This Rodgers and Hammerstein musical tells the story of the King of Siam in 1860 and his efforts to modernize the country. He hires an English school teacher to instruct his family about the Western world, but the King and the teacher immediately clash on issues of truth, promises, culture, slavery and more. The high school cast will be bringing back memories of this classic with songs like “Getting to Know You,” Whistle a Happy Tune” and “Shall We Dance.” In addition to Wednesday, they will again take the stage on Thursday, April 4 and Saturday, April 6 at the Carroll Rec Center Theater, with all performances beginning at 7 p.m. Carroll Broadcasting will be bringing you more details about the play directly from cast members in upcoming broadcasts.
