Officers with the Carroll County Sheriff’s Office and Carroll Police Department were led on a chase by a juvenile driver early Saturday morning. The Carroll County Sheriff’s Office reports a deputy checked the speed of a vehicle traveling north on U.S. Highway 71, near 140th Street, east of Mt. Carmel, at approximately 5:08 a.m. The driver was clocked doing 76 miles per hour in a 55-mile-per-hour zone. The deputy attempted to stop the vehicle, but the driver fled, leading authorities on an estimated 14 mile chase. The pursuit ended when the juvenile male lost control at the intersection of 150th Street and Olympic Avenue. The teen was taken into custody and later released to his parents. No injuries and no damages to the vehicle were reported. The incident remains under investigation.
