Carroll’s summertime sesquicentennial celebration will be featuring a kick-off on Friday, July 19 with the Johnny Holm Band in the downtown district. The group promises non-stop entertainment for all tastes, transitioning seamlessly through renditions of country favorites from Garth Brooks right into a cover of a Naughty by Nature party anthem. Not only can they navigate between genres, the group covers multiple eras with more current hits side-by-side with the likes of AC/DC, Billy Joel and Neil Diamond standards. The band’s lead man, Johnny Holm, says they don’t use a set list, but rather perform songs that will keep the audience entertained and engaged. The concert will be held from 8 p.m. to 11:30 p.m. A BBQ competition will be taking place that night as well, and food trucks and a beer garden will serve attendees. The weekend-long sesquicentennial celebration will also include other family-friendly events that will honor Carroll’s 150-year history as well as celebrate the future.
