Jefferson PD Gets Help From Video Surveillance In Identifying Potential Suspects In Vehicle Break-Ins

The Jefferson Police Department is investigating two thefts from vehicles that occurred in the same area on Saturday. The first incident was reported at approximately 2:27 a.m. when Carol Love told authorities the window of her vehicle, parked in the 1000 block of West Lincoln Way, had been broken and her purse was missing. Surveillance footage from the Greene County Medical Center showed a male subject using a piece of concrete to break the window. He then reached in and grabbed the purse. Additional video surveillance from the Wild Rose Casino Resort, Jefferson has led the officer to narrow the field to two Fort Dodge suspects. In that video, a vehicle was identified and authorities were able to see a license plate number. The second report was received at approximately 3 a.m. from Anne Simpson. She too had a car parked on that same block and says a bag was removed from her unlocked vehicle. Again, video footage was used to identify the subject as the same one involved in the first report. Charges are pending the completion of an investigation.
