Jefferson Man Dies From Injuries Sustained In Accident Saturday

A Jefferson man has died from injuries sustained in a single-vehicle accident west of Jefferson Saturday night. The Iowa State Patrol reports they responded to the scene on 237th Street near Kirkwood Avenue at approximately 11:57 p.m. Sixty-year-old Ronald Eugene Kolbeck was traveling eastbound on 237th Street in a 2012 Ford F-250 pickup when he struck the railing on the Raccoon River bridge. The truck drug along the railing for several feet, coming to rest on the east side of the bridge. Kolbeck was transported to the Greene County Medical Center by Greene County Emergency Medical Services. There was an estimated $10,000 in damage done to the Kolbeck vehicle and $2,000 to the bridge. The Jefferson Police and Fire Departments and the Greene County Sheriff’s Office assisted at the scene.
