The Iowa State Patrol responded to an SUV/semi-tractor trailer accident at approximately 3:15 p.m. Monday just west of Glidden. A 2014 Mack semi pulling a trailer, driven by 53-year-old Paul Daniel of Glidden, was eastbound on Highway 30, stopped with a turn signal on and waiting for oncoming traffic to make a left-hand turn onto Sycamore Avenue. A 2015 Cadillac SRX, driven by 95-year-old Francis Hanen, Jr. of Jefferson, was also eastbound, behind the Mack truck, but did not stop in time and rear-ended the trailer. The Cadillac became wedged under the bumper. Hanen and his passenger, 91-year-old Barbara Hanen, were both transported to St. Anthony Regional Hospital by Carroll County Emergency Medical Services for treatment of suspected minor injuries. The accident remains under investigation.
