It Is Time To Think About Summer Getaways

We have just weathered through one winter storm warning and are entering a weekend with predictions of more wintery precipitation, but the Iowa Department of Natural Resources is thinking summer. They have announced that Memorial Day reservations at campsites across the state will open this Sunday, Feb. 24. Memorial Day weekend begins Friday, May 24, and to plan a weekend getaway, you need only log on to the DNR’s website, the link to which is included below. Due to poor weather conditions and planned renovations, there are certain parks that will not be making reservations available. These include: Geode State Park, Marble Beach State Recreation Area and Wilson Island State Recreation Area. Geode is expected to open in July and Marble Beach in August. Lacey-Keosauqua State Park will reopen its newly renovated park May 15. Closure details can also be found through the link included here.
