Iowa To Receive A Portion Of Settlement For Neiman Marcus Security Breach

Iowa is to receive almost $21,000 as their share of a $1.5 million settlement with Neiman Marcus Group, LLC, for a 2013 data breach. Iowa joined 43 other states and the District of Columbia in the investigation into the release of customer data from 77 Neiman Marcus Stores. It is estimated that 370,000 payment cards, 268 of which were identified as belonging to Iowa consumers, were compromised in the breach and at least 9,200 of these were used fraudulently. “Unfortunately, data breaches continue to plague consumers, as we have seen recently with Marriott and Quora, Miller says. “This agreement includes policies to prevent similar breaches.”
