Iowa Filmmakers Encouraged To Submit Original Works For Fourth Season Of “The Film Lounge”

The Iowa Department of Cultural Affairs is now accepting original short movies for the fourth season of “The Film Lounge.” The show is an Iowa Public Television (IPTV) production created to celebrate Iowa’s filmmakers, introduce viewers to the state’s creative talent and explore video as an art form. Entries are to be between two and 20 minutes in length and will be reviewed by a panel of judges looking for artistic originality, technical quality and level of engagement. Submissions are due by Saturday, June 1 and can be entered using the link included with this story on our website. Applicants will be notified by Aug. 1 and the selected movies will be announced by Sept. 1. The chosen filmmakers will receive a $500 stipend from Produce Iowa and the Iowa Arts Council. A separate contest for “The Film Lounge: Halloween Style” also has an entry deadline of June 1. The special will highlight horror-themed short films, and selected applicants will receive a $250 stipend. The Halloween special will air the week of Oct. 31. Season four of “The Film Lounge” debuts in February of 2020.
