After a witness contacted Carroll County authorities regarding the official report on a serious accident last Wednesday night, there has been an alteration made to the original filing. The passenger in one of the vehicles, 23-year-old Miranda Hills, and her family spoke with the Carroll County Sheriff’s Office about the direction of travel as it was notated. In the initial investigative form, the car Hills was riding in, a 2006 Dodge Stratus, driven by 19-year-old Sydney Jo Custer of Carroll, was said to be traveling northbound on a gravel road east of Mt. Carmel. The other vehicle, a 2015 Ford F-150, driven by 17-year-old Tyler Joseph Putney of Carroll, was recorded as driving southbound. The Custer vehicle’s direction of travel has been changed to reflect an easterly path at the time of the accident that evening. The investigation into this incident is ongoing, however, as authorities await drug test results from the state laboratory. The 7:41 p.m. accident resulted in serious injuries to Custer, who was transported to St. Anthony Regional Hospital by Carroll County Emergency Medical Services and later airlifted to a Des Moines hospital.
