Greene County Middle School Locked Down Tuesday Morning As Ogden Woman Roamed Halls

The Greene County Middle School was placed in lockdown Monday after an Ogden woman was found wandering through the halls and removing items from the building and a vehicle parked there. The Jefferson Police Department received a report from the school on West Harrison Street at approximately 8:58 a.m. that this female had taken something from a locker room before leaving the building. The officers could not locate the woman, but did learn that she had also entered and removed items from a staff member’s vehicle before vacating the property. At approximately 10:47 a.m., another report was called in; this time from the School Administration Building on West Madison Street. The female was now there. She was taken into custody when officers arrived. Thirty-six-year-old Jessica Jo Peterson, told authorities she was homeless and attempted to use this an excuse for her actions. However, when officers spoke with officials in Ogden, they learned she was not homeless and lived in the community. Peterson was charged with third-degree burglary, an aggravated misdemeanor, unlawful possession of prescription drugs, a serious misdemeanor, and fifth-degree theft, a simple misdemeanor. The lockdown at the middle school was lifted shortly after Peterson was apprehended, at approximately 10:55 a.m.
