Glidden-Ralston First-Grade Teacher, Payton Ball, Named The 2019 Carroll Broadcasting New Teacher Of The Year

Payton Ball, a first-grade teacher in the Glidden-Ralston Community School District, has been named the 2019 Carroll Broadcasting New Teacher of the Year. To be eligible for the award, educators must be in their first five years of teaching, and Ball is nearing the end of her second year with the Wildcats. The award was presented during a surprise assembly in Glidden Thursday afternoon. Ball says working with kids every day brings her joy, but it is a lot tougher than any belief.

Nearly all of her nominations came from the parents of Ball’s current and former students. They say she has a knack for connecting with the kids and making them look forward to going to school. Ball is thankful for all the wonderful compliments, but she says she is still working to be the best teacher she can be.

Ball is also a 2012 graduate of Glidden-Ralston and says there was a part of her that always knew she wanted to come back to teach in the same school that she attended.

Photos from the award presentation can be found included with this story on our website. Carroll Broadcasting will bring you more from our final Teacher of the Year Award recipient in upcoming broadcasts.
