The search for a new administrator/clerk for the City of Glidden is officially underway. Suzy Danner, who has been with the city for 30 years, submitted her notice of retirement to the council in April and only recently posted the future job opening. According to Danner, the city has grown and changed so much over the last three decades. She says she is proud of their efforts to make Glidden a wonderful place to live and work and adds her favorite projects were the ones that benefited the community at large.

With only eight months left until Danner’s final day as city clerk/administrator, the city council is now beginning the process of finding her replacement. Danner says she gave plenty of notice because officials wanted her to play a part in her successor’s training.

Officials hope to have the position filled by September, and then Danner and whoever is chosen will work together for about six months before Danner officially retires. She says stepping away from city hall will be difficult because the work is so rewarding. What she will miss most, however, is the people.

She also wants to thank the many individuals she works with on a regular basis.

Danner’s final day with Glidden is April 1, 2020. Until then, she says she will continue to work tirelessly for the betterment of the community and its residents. After retirement, Danner intends to spend more time with family and hopes to devote more time to the New Hope Bargain Shoppe and her church where she volunteers.
