- It may not seem like it, but motorists are actually saving money at the pump over last year. As of Wednesday, the average price of regular unleaded gasoline in Iowa averaged $2.66, down $.17 from this same time in 2018 and holding steady with last week’s average. According to AAA, the national average was reported at $2.80, a price drop of $.02 from last week. Diesel fuel prices were down the same amount, coming in with a statewide average of $2.97, compared to $3.17 last year.
