Full-Ride Scholarships Now Available For Lincoln Corridor Computer Languages Students

A very unique and lucrative opportunity is now available through the Rural Forge Scholarship program. The collaboration between Accenture and Corteva Agriscience will provide $7,500 to Des Moines Area Community College (DMACC) computer language students. Provost, Joel Lundstrom, says the more than $185,000 in scholarships will be available to those living in an area dubbed the Lincoln Corridor.

The computer languages diploma is a 30-credit hour program, and Lundstrom says it is available to high school students as well as those who have already graduated.

Lundstrom adds that these are the types of skilled, high-demand jobs identified by Gov. Kim Reynolds in the Future Ready Iowa initiative. The graduates of this course will be entering into a high-paying field with global reach.

This debt-free aspect is invaluable, Lundstrom says. The graduates are leaving the program with no debt and entering a field where the potential for a six-figure income is extremely likely. Lundstrom says anyone living in that geographic region who is interested in the scholarship should talk to one of their advisors.

Within the program, the students will be introduced to a cross-section of different languages. While learning those, Rural Forge has also committed to providing real-life scenarios and projects for added exposure and experience. The classes can be taken at the students own pace. At the high school level, it is structured over two years. Others can complete it on an accelerated timeline, in as little as a year or anywhere in between. More information is available by calling DMACC at 792-1755. Lundstrom adds there is also still time to enroll for any fall classes offered at the Carroll campus.
