It is free fishing weekend and there is no need for adults to have a license to help a young angler learn some fishing tips, tricks and safety measures. The Sac County Conservation Board and the Sac County Iowa State University Extension and Outreach Office are partnering to host a free youth fishing clinic on Saturday, June 8 at Ice House Point in Lake View. From 9 a.m. to noon, kids will learn fishing basics, how to identify different types of fish, what bait they should use, how to knot a hook, ways to keep the lake clean, how to cast, water safety and more. There will be a lot of fun and even door prizes for some lucky attendees. Registration for Saturday’s event is required and can be done through the contact points included here.
