Four People Transported For Treatment Of Minor Injuries From Rear-End Collision Tuesday

Four people were transported to St. Anthony Regional Hospital for treatment of injuries sustained in a rear-end collision Tuesday afternoon. The Carroll County Sheriff’s Office responded to the scene at U.S. Highway 71 and 100th Street, south of Auburn and near the Sac County line at approximately 2:51 p.m. A 2017 Dodge Ram 1500, driven by 47-year-old Joel Patrick Nelson of Carroll, was signaled to stop by a construction flag person. Nelson was just coming to a complete stop when he was struck from behind by a 2012 Chevrolet Cruze, driven by 31-year-old Tiffany Lynn Cooper of Osawatomie, Kan. Cooper told authorities after the accident that she may have been distracted by a GPS device in the vehicle. Nelson and a passenger in his truck were checked at the scene by Carroll County Emergency Medical Services. Cooper and three children in the car, a 12-year-old female, an 11-year-old female and an eight-year-old male, were all transported to the hospital by ambulance with minor injuries. The Nelson truck was able to be driven from the scene, but the Cruze was deemed a total loss. Cooper was cited for failure to maintain control.
