The Iowa Board of Medicine has levied multiple penalties against a former Mapleton physician following an investigation into alleged misconduct. Fifty-three-year-old Dr. Alan J. Schenne, D.O., entered into a combined statement of charges and settlement agreement with the board on Feb. 8. They allege Schenne engaged in sexual relations with a female coworker, for whom he also provided medical care, and sent sexually suggestive text messages to several other coworkers while practicing medicine in Mapleton. Schenne was ordered to pay a $5,000 civil penalty, was issued a citation and warning and voluntarily surrendered his Iowa medical license.
