Prosecutors have filed trial information in District Court for Carroll County against a Lake City man accused of drug trafficking and possession. According to court records, 58-year-old James Roger Evans is formally charged with one count of possession of methamphetamine with the intent to deliver, a class B felony, and one count of possession of marijuana, a serious misdemeanor. The charges stem from a traffic stop about two miles southwest of Lanesboro on Timber Avenue at approximately 2:11 a.m. on April 22. The Carroll County Sheriff’s Office found Evans with 36 grams of methamphetamine, packaging materials, a digital scale and six grams of marijuana. An arraignment hearing has been scheduled for July 29 at the Carroll County Courthouse. If found guilty, he faces a maximum penalty of 25 years in prison. Evans was released from custody near the beginning of July after posting a $20,000 surety bond.
