Five More Counties, Including Crawford, Added To Disaster Proclamations

Last week, Iowa Gov. Kim Reynolds issued a disaster proclamation for 15 counties in response to widespread flooding and flash flooding that began March 13. She has now added five more counties to that proclamation. The addition of Crawford, Delaware, Page, Palo Alto and Tama Counties now bring the total number of counties impacted to 41. The proclamation will open up federal grant dollars to eligible residents impacted by the flooding. Grants will be made available for home or car repairs and replacement of clothing as well as for food and temporary housing expenses incurred. The Iowa Individual Assistance Grant Program provides up to $5,000 to households that meet the income requirements. The deadline to apply is May 2. Disaster case managers are also available to work with residents of these counties on disaster recovery plans and to provide guidance, advice and referrals to other services and resources. There are no income guidelines for the Disaster Case Management services. This program will close 180 days from the proclamation date, March 18.
