First Annual Tiger Trot Fundraiser Coming Next Week

Next Wednesday will be the inaugural event for students in the Carroll Community School District, allowing them time outside the classroom to do physical activities in the first-annual Carroll High School Foundation’s Tiger Trot. A member of the foundation, Katie Kruse, says each grade through middle school will be given 30 to 45 minutes to run or walk. They are also encouraged to invite parents, friends and other family and community members to join them in their quest for healthy lifestyles in this fundraiser.

Another foundation member, Shelly Haluska, says the high school students will interact with the younger ones through other means as well.

Kruse adds the event is tied to a statewide fitness initiative.

It also helps the high school students meet the volunteer requirements in their curriculum. Many businesses and indivdiuals are donating to the event. Haluska says donations can be made ahead of the Tiger Trot and at it to help support the CHS Foundation. Since being founded in 2012, their sole goal is to support and promote educational opportunities now and into the future.

Kruse calls it an academic booster club. To date, the foundation has raised almost $24,000 towards their $50,000 goal. All of the information about the Tiger Trot and details on how to donate can be found at the foundation’s website at www.chsfoundation.myfunrun.com.
