Fireworks Complaints Escalate, Even After Warnings From Carroll PD

Despite repeated warnings that any fireworks beyond a novelty classification are not to be discharged within the Carroll city limits, and that fines for violations of the ordinance are typically at $397.50 with court costs, complaints continue to roll in to the Carroll Police Department. On Wednesday, between 10:26 p.m. and 11:59 p.m., officers responded to nine different calls, and reported at least two citations. The complaints came from all different parts of the community, from Clark to Marcella Heights and Grant Road, to the 1800 block of north Highway 71. Two people in the 900 block of North Court Street received the citations, 18-year-old Calvin Kienast of Carroll and 25-year-old Cody Bothwell of Hazleton. Authorities remind everyone that it is their duty to know and follow fireworks ordinances for each community and for the county of Carroll before discharge. Just because they are sold in a given community does not mean use is allowed. Typically, each town will have their ordinance posted on their website or Facebook page, or you can contact them directly with questions.
