Finish Work Underway At New Carroll City Hall On North Adams

Finishes are starting to be installed at the new Carroll City Hall location on Adams Street. City Manager, Mike Pogge-Weaver, says the north side, that houses the staff offices and public reception area, is a little farther ahead with the process than the south, where the majority of that space will be taken up with the council chambers. Council members will sit on a slightly raised dais on the south side of the building facing to the north. The larger seating area will include some spots for staff members and an accessibility option for future use.

A technology room to the west of the chambers will allow the city to integrate some of the latest tools.

Council members will be able to view the displays on monitors at their seats and two additional wall monitors will be added for the public. PowerPoint hookups will be installed into the podium and a camera will be placed above it so images can be transmitted to those in attendance and those watching on CAAT 6. The new chambers will also accommodate more people than the one at the Farner Government Building.

The hallway has some glass panels, and will include monitors and speakers. In the event of overflow, the public can still see and hear what is going on. This week will bring more changes to the front of the building as doors are installed into the newly created central corridor. Pogge-Weaver says the design is centered around this hallway, that features a cloud ceiling, and will allow them to lock up the office side while still providing public access to the other. In the office area, painting has been done, cabinetry is coming in and a dropped ceiling is being installed. They are currently targeting an August or September move in date.
