Felony Charges Filed Against Spencer Man Accused Stealing More Than $1,000 In Products From Carroll Walmart

Trial information has been filed in District Court for Carroll County against a Spencer man accused of stealing more than $1,000-worth of products from Walmart earlier this year. Thirty-year-old Denver Josephtate Crumpton has been charged with one count of second-degree theft, a class D felony. The charge stems from an incident in the early morning hours of Feb. 14. Crumpton allegedly walked through the store with a tote, hiding three prepaid cell phones, speakers and other electronic devices inside it. He then placed the tote near an exit door and returned later to leave the store without paying for the items. Crumpton remains in custody at the Carroll County jail on a $1,000 surety bond. An arraignment hearing has been scheduled for Thursday, April 25 at the Carroll County Courthouse. If found guilty, Crumpton faces a maximum penalty of five years in prison and $7,500 in fines.
