Fatal Injuries Reported In Tuesday Morning Bus Accident Near Fort Dodge

One person was killed and another injured in an accident involving a school bus Tuesday morning. No children were on the bus at that time. The Iowa State Patrol responded to the scene on Highway 7, just west of Fort Dodge, at approximately 6:45 a.m. Fifty-eight-year-old Anthony Gibbins of Fort Dodge was driving westbound on Highway 7, when he crossed the center line and into the path of a Manson Northwest Webster bus, driven by 65-year-old David Wienhold of Manson. The vehicles collided head-on, with the Gibbins vehicle coming to rest on the north shoulder and the bus in the north ditch. Gibbins suffered fatal injuries in the accident and Wienhold was airlifted to Iowa Methodist Hospital in Des Moines. The accident remains under investigation. The Iowa State Patrol was assisted by the Webster County Sheriff’s Office, the Iowa Department of Transportation (DOT) and the Fort Dodge, Claire and Barnum Fire Departments.
