Driver Of UTV In Fatal Accident Sunday Says He Hit A Washout That Was Unseen Until It Was Too Late

The Crawford County Sheriff’s Office has released the details of a fatal UTV accident Sunday, just a few miles to the northwest of Denison that claimed the life of a Crawford County woman who was originally from Carroll. A 911 call came in to the communications center at approximately 4:32 p.m. from Cody Mohr, reporting the accident and a possible fatality that had occurred in the farm field behind his residence at 2486 L. Ave. Law enforcement authorities and emergency medical personnel were dispatched to the scene, and the deputy who arrived first met Mohr at the roadway. Mohr had placed 24-year-old Abigail Ann Molinsky, who was unresponsive and not breathing, in the backseat of the truck and had begun life-saving measures as they waited for the ambulance. These efforts continued until Crawford County Emergency Medical Services arrived at approximately 4:42 p.m. and transported Molinsky to Crawford County Memorial Hospital in Denison. Mohr, who was uninjured, walked deputies through the scene and explained that he had been driving the UTV toward the house, traveling southwest across a recently combined corn field. Neither he nor Molinsky were wearing shoulder or lap belts and as he approached the residence, the UTV hit a deep washout, which Mohr said he could not see until it was too late. The UTV went sideways, rolling fully once and then onto the passenger’s side. Molinsky was partially ejected and struck in the head by the vehicles roll bar. She was pronounced dead at the hospital. Authorities report there was no sign of alcoholic beverages at the scene and no indication that either Mohr or Molinsky had been consuming alcohol. Funeral services are scheduled for Friday, Oct. 25 at 10:30 a.m. at the First United Methodist Church in Carroll.
