Details Released After Investigation Completed Into Greene County Accident Monday, Feb. 11

The Iowa State Patrol has released details of a Feb. 11 car/semi accident following the completion of their investigation. At approximately 3:23 p.m. on that Monday afternoon, a 2007 Chevrolet HHR, driven by 20-year-old Danielle Whitney Schulte of Carroll, was traveling westbound on Highway 30 near M Avenue, just to the west of Jefferson. At that same time, a Drees Transport Company 2016 Peterbilt semi-tractor trailer, driven by 55-year-old Christopher Allen Muller of Carroll, was eastbound. Schulte was attempting to slow down behind other westbound traffic when she lost control of her vehicle on the highway that was snow covered and suspected to be icy. She spun into the path of the oncoming semi. Following the collision, the HHR came to rest in the south ditch while the semi traveled through the south ditch, finally coming to a stop in a field. Both drivers were transported to the Greene County Medical Center by Greene County Emergency Medical Services. Schulte was treated for suspected serious injuries while Muller was treated for minor injuries. There was an estimated $9,000 in damage done to the HHR and $15,000 in damage to the Peterbilt. Schulte was cited for failure to maintain control.
