Democratic U.S. Senate Candidate Says He Wants To Invest In People And Infrastructure Of Rural Iowa

This past week, businessman and Democratic candidate for the U.S. Senate, Eddie Mauro, made a point of coming to a place where he had strong roots to announce the kick-off of his campaign. He said that west central Iowa, the Carroll area in-particular, is a strong, fundamental part of the values he wants to see put to work in Washington, D.C. Mauro told those gathered at the Graham Park Shelter House that now is his time because he believes Republican incumbent, Joni Ernst, has failed and misled the people of Iowa. He said we need to invest in the people the state.

The way we do that, according to Mauro, is to implement an infrastructure bill.

Mauro wants to find ways to bring more than just brick-and-mortar infrastructure to Iowa.

Investment on the front side, Mauro says, will help us so much more than the investments on the back side, which he says is what is happening right now. Mauro’s mother, Lorena (Lori) Mauro, is from Carroll and he spent a great deal of time on the family farm growing up. He currently lives in Des Moines and is a founding member of A Mid-Iowa Organizing Strategy (AMOS) and has served on the boards of the South Suburban YMCA, The Immigration Committee for the Iowa Catholic Conference, the Purify Project and the Independent Insurance Agents of Iowa.
