Crop Fair Coming To Coon Rapids Early March

The Iowa Corn District Four Committee, the Iowa Corn Growers Association (ICGA) and the Iowa Corn Promotion Board (ICPB) are hosting a crop fair in Coon Rapids early next month. The March 7 fair will run from 9 a.m. to noon at the American Legion Center on Main Street and will feature three expert speakers. At 9 a.m., Sergeant Kevin Killpack with the Iowa Motor Vehicle Enforcement Division, will discuss how Department of Transportation (DOT) rules and regulations affect farming. At 10 a.m., ISU Extension and Outreach Farm Management Specialist, Tim Christensen, will provide a market outlook and at 11 a.m., Iowa Corn Growers Association Market Development Manager, TJ Page, will give insight on how to create long-term profitability through the Iowa Corn Checkoff. Larry Buss, an ICPB director and farmer from Logan, chairs the Iowa Corn Grassroots Network, Membership and Checkoff Committee. He says the crop fairs provide farmers with access to information they may not be able to get elsewhere. “Crop fairs are customized to include topics that fit each region of the state, with opportunities for farmer-to-farmer learning and a chance to interact with subject area experts on a variety of topics, including legislative policy, water quality, market development and risk management.” Registration is required for the March 7 crop fair and is requested by Monday, March 4. This can be done through the contact points included below.
