CR-B Prepares For 2019-20 School Year With Open House For Families And Students Wed., Aug. 21

The summer break is coming to an end with all the students in the listening area returning to class on Friday, Aug. 23, including those at the Coon Rapids-Bayard Community School District (CR-B). Eric Trager, the former principal at Audubon High School, will be taking over superintendent duties at CR-B as well as in Audubon, following the retirement of Brett Gibbs at the end of the 2018-19 school year. Trager says a significant part of his first year will be spent getting familiar with the district.

Finding new teachers to replace ones who retire or move on to another district has become increasingly difficult in recent years, but Trager says they are pleased to be starting teacher orientation and professional development with no vacancies.

New teacher orientation at CR-B begins on Monday, Aug. 19 with all staff back on Tuesday, Aug. 20. Then, on Wednesday, Aug. 21, administrators and educators will gather for a professional development seminar with Ken Mattingly, an education consultant.

From 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. that day is also CR-B’s community back-to-school open house, where students and families will be treated to some free food and be allowed to see the building and grounds updates that occurred at the district over the summer. The first day of school falls on Friday, Aug. 23. Classes begin at 8:10 a.m. for the 2019-20 school year.
