Council Approves First Reading For Installation Of New Stop Signs At Two Audubon Street Intersections in Sac City

New stop signs will be going up at two intersections in Sac City near the end of February. At their meeting last week, officials passed the first reading of an ordinance that would install the traffic control devices at two locations on Audubon Street. Administrator, Jamie Lawrence, says they originally planned for the first set of signs to affect northbound and southbound traffic on State Street.

The second set of stop signs is 10 block to the west at the intersection of Audubon and 14th Streets for north and southbound traffic. Lawrence says Sac City Police Chief, John Thomsen, recommend this location to the council in the interest of public safety.

The first reading for both locations passed without comment from the public, but two additional readings need to be approved before the signs can be installed. Lawrence does not anticipate any resistance to the change and expects the signs to be up by early February. The city council meets next on Tuesday, Jan. 22 at 5 p.m. in the Sac City Municipal Utility Building.
