Congressman King To Host 13th Annual Gen. Bud Day Pheasant Hunt This Weekend

The re-election campaign for Iowa Fourth District Congressman, Steve King, has announced they will be hosting the 13th annual General George Everette “Bud” Day Pheasant Hunt in Plymouth County this weekend. The two-day event will take place Saturday and Sunday at the Hole ‘N the Wall Lodge near Akron and was created to recognize Iowa’s most decorated serviceman. “We are honored every year to celebrate the legacy of one of America’s greatest military heroes, Gen. Bud Day. Gen. Day attended our hunt multiple times and we always take a moment to reflect on his life and share stories of Gen. Day with our guests. He will always be Siouxland’s hero,” says King. Day was a Sioux City native and was the nation’s most decorated war hero at the time of his death in 2013. He served in World War II, Vietnam and Korea, and was a prisoner of war for 5.5 years after his capture during the Vietnam War. Day received nearly 70 military awards and decorations during his career, including: The Medal of Honor, Air Force Cross, Distinguished Service Medal, Silver Star, Legion of Merit, Distinguished Flying Cross, Bronze Star, Purple Heart and Air Medal.
