Congressman King Supports President And Denounces Speaker After Voting On Joint Resolution To Block National Emergency Declaration

Iowa’s Fourth District Congressman, Steve King, released a statement Tuesday following his no vote on the joint resolution presented by Democrats attempting to block President Trump’s National Emergency declaration. King says he will stand by the President and denounces House Speaker, Nancy Pelosi, for placing innocent Americans in harm’s way through an open-borders agenda. “President Trump has the statutory authority to declare a National Emergency, and he has correctly assessed that the ongoing influx of illegal aliens into our country is needlessly placing the lives of American citizens at risk,” King says. “President Trump was right to declare a National Emergency and address this and he is equally correct that the best thing we can do to bring this security crisis to an end is to construct a wall on our border with Mexico.” King also says he does something that Pelosi does not, he meets with the Angel Families who have seen their loved ones killed by illegals. He says he cares about these families and shares their frustration with Pelosi’s “obstructionist tactics.” He says, “The Angel Moms will tell anyone who will meet with them that our failure to secure our border comes with the highest of all human costs.” King continues his 39-county town hall meetings in Harrison County on Friday. He will meet with constituents from 9:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. March 1 at the Logan Community Center.
